Anxiety

Stressed Woman

Over 18% of adults have experienced anxiety in their lives. General Anxiety Disorder is characterized by excessive worrying lasting at least six months.  You may find yourself worried about your future, that the past will be repeated and that future events are out of your control.

How do you know if you have anxiety?

  • You’re afraid to make decisions.

  • You’re afraid to go to certain places.

  • You can’t function at your best.

  • You experience panic attacks.

How can therapy help this?

Therapy helps you become more in tune with your feelings, thoughts, and bodily reactions. With therapy you will learn relaxation techniques and coping strategies with my person-centered therapy approach. I will move you through experiences that you fear in steps until they no longer affect you.

For example, if you have a fear of taking the train, we will create steps so you can feel comfortable going to the station, maybe stepping in and out of the train, until you feel comfortable staying on the train for longer periods of time. You will become less sensitive to the experience and conquer your fears, which will lead to an alleviation of symptoms.
